What 3-year-olds learn here

The 3s Room uses the Brightwheel Experience Curriculum preschool track. It was written by early childhood teachers and lines up with Delaware’s learning standards. Every week has a nature theme, and the lessons tie back to it.

Your child will work on letters and sounds, numbers, early writing, science, art, and music. We use the Reggio Emilia approach, which means kids get to explore, ask a lot of questions, and learn by doing.

The 3s also join our community events and get visits from local first responders, so they get to know Newark, not just their classroom.

Our teachers will talk to you at drop-off and pickup about what your child did that day. You’ll know your child’s teachers, and they’ll know you.

A typical day

  • Morning meeting. Say good morning, go over the calendar, and talk about this week’s theme.
  • Lessons. Letters, numbers, and science.
  • Breakfast. Made in our kitchen.
  • Nature activity. This week’s theme, a lot of times outside on the field or in the garden.
  • Lunch and rest. Lunch from home, then a quiet rest.
  • Afternoon. Snack, art, music, and outside before pickup.
